By accessing or using BikeTagz (“the Service”) you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all visitors, registered users, and anyone who scans a bike tag using our platform.
BikeTagz provides NFC-based bike ownership registration and verification. Members can register bikes, upload photos, mark bikes as stolen, and transfer ownership. Anyone with a smartphone can scan a registered bike’s NFC tag to verify ownership. No app download is required.
You agree that:
Registering a bike you do not own, or providing false information, may constitute fraud. We cooperate with law enforcement investigations.
The “Mark as stolen” feature is provided to help owners alert the public that a bike has been stolen. You must only mark a bike as stolen if it has genuinely been stolen from you. False or malicious stolen reports are prohibited and may result in account termination and legal liability.
The tap verification page is publicly accessible to anyone who scans your bike. By registering a bike you consent to your initials, city/postcode, registration date, serial number, and bike photos being displayed publicly on your bike’s verification page. Your full name and email are never shown publicly.
Verification results (including replay detection alerts) are displayed in real time. We make no warranties regarding uninterrupted availability of the verification service.
For security and anti-fraud purposes, every tap of an NFC tag is logged, including the scanning device’s IP address, timestamp, and cryptographic values. Additionally, an invisible forensic watermark encoding the viewer’s IP address and minute-level timestamp is embedded in the verification page at render time. This watermark is used solely for fraud investigation if a verification screenshot is shared fraudulently.
You may not:
The BikeTagz name, logo, website design, and software are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce or redistribute any part of the Service without written permission.
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that verification results are always accurate, that the Service will be uninterrupted, or that NFC tags cannot be physically tampered with. BikeTagz is a deterrence and verification tool — it does not guarantee the recovery of stolen bikes or prevent all forms of theft.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BikeTagz shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including but not limited to loss of property, revenue, or data. Our total liability in any matter is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction. If you are based in the EU, you also benefit from mandatory consumer protection rights under applicable EU law.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes will be notified by email to registered users.
