Why a single lock isn't enough for an e-bike

E-bikes are expensive — the average stolen e-bike is worth $1,500–$3,000. Bike thieves know this, and many carry both bolt cutters AND angle grinders. Even a high-quality U-lock can be defeated in under 3 minutes with an angle grinder.

Security experts recommend the “two lock” approach: a high-quality U-lock through the frame and rear wheel, plus a secondary cable or chain through the front wheel. Two locks require two different tools, which most casual thieves don't have.

Beyond physical security: registering your bike creates a timestamped ownership record, which is critical if your bike is stolen and later recovered. Police are significantly more likely to return a recovered bike when the owner has proof of ownership.
